Lawrence Raghavendra is an Indian dance choreographer, film actor, director, composer and philanthropist in Chennai. He is also a playback singer, composer and director and has appeared in supporting roles in some films.
Lawrence is moreover known for his intricate hip-hop and westernized dance moves. He has starred in commercially successful films like ‘Parthale Paravasam’, ‘Muni’ and ‘Pandi’. Raghava has directed popular films like ‘Mass’, ‘Style’, ‘Muni’ and ‘Don’. Raghava Lawrence is known for his philanthropic efforts and a humanitarian nature and runs a charitable trust that works for the welfare of physically disabled youth.
Raghava spends most of his income on this disability home and is supported by many film personalities in this noble initiative.
Between 2000 and 2006, Lawrence received four Filmfare Awards and three Nandi Awards for his choreography work on the Telugu films Annayya, Indra, and Style and on the Tamil movie Paarthale Paravasam.
Also an actor and director, he worked on Chala Bagundi, Rebel, and numerous other projects. He was a Christian who Converted to the Hinduism. Lawrence had brain tumor when he was a child and rarely went to school. He got cured after his mother went to a temple of Raghavendra Swami and Lawrence strongly believes that it was Raghavendra Swami who cured him of his tumour.
He became an ardent devotee of the deity and added its name to his name. He built the Raghavendra Swamy Brindavanam Temple at Thirumullaivayal on the Avadi-Ambattur route, which opened from January 1, 2010.
